Something interesting I found the other day when I was watching TV was an ad for a yogurt company. It kind of portrays women as the more dominating person in a relationship and the man as a carpet to be walked on. Maybe that is being a bit dramatic but it definitely seemed like the man was afraid of the woman a little bit. I thought it was relevant to a project I am working on for a class called Media and Society. With a partner I am currently working on a content analysis of sexual content in children's media but another content pattern I am noticing as of lately is the dominating relationship role that women and superior to men. This is not necessarily my area of expertise considering I am a woman but it definitely made me think about the role of feminism in society and how it has been twisted beyond its original intent to allow women to vote and be treated fairly and with respect. It has now become a matter of equality, which from a Biblical standpoint of creation has never been accurate. I could not find the version I wanted to share of the following commercial, where she asks him why he is digging around in the refrigerator like he is not allowed to do that in his own house, but this clip should give you a general idea about what I am referring too. Another ambiguous interpretation about this commercial is whether or not the couple portrayed is married, living together, or if the man is just over for a little while. This would change the perspective a little bit if it was or was not his house to begin with. Just some things to think about as you watch the following clip.
